Kick Off 2015 with New Features

Calendar View with Multi Select

Over the past several weeks, we’ve released many features including enhancements to the mobile apps, calendar view, and collaboration tools. Here’s a quick rundown so you know what to try the next time you’re in LeanKit.

Using My LeanKit Mobile Apps — Offline

Your new ideas and to-do items won’t get lost when you’re unable to connect to a network. Create new cards and review your existing work while you’re offline, using My LeanKit for iOS and Android. When you’re back online, your boards will synchronize and show any new cards you created while offline.

Android users may see that cards in My LeanKit look a little different. This change helps ensure that there’s a similar experience across all platforms.

Managing Boards and Board Templates

Have you ever accidentally deleted a card from your board? If you have, you’ll be glad to know there’s a new board level setting to turn the option to delete cards “on” or “off.” This helps prevent the loss of work history and ensures accurate activity reporting on all the cards being pulled through your process. If you choose to turn”off” the option to delete cards on a board, be sure your team determines a policy for handling duplicate or errant cards (e.g., a new archive lane for those items).

Creating a board from a template is a great way to jumpstart your next project. For repeatable processes or projects, creating custom board templates from an existing board and using that same layout – even the same cards – can save a lot of time. Now card start/finish dates are saved when you create custom board templates to help you quickly build a new board with fixed durations or sequenced work.

When you need a new board that has cards pre-loaded with start and/or finish dates, create it from a custom template.

After you create a new board you’re instantly taken to it. Once there, all you have to do is use the “date slip” feature to align cards with the latest project deadlines.

Once a new board is created from your project template, slip the dates and maintain activity durations.

You’ll find that the home screen is more organized to help you find both boards and templates more easily. Rather than scrolling through a long alphabetical list, which could take awhile if you’re in a large organization, we’ve sorted the view for you.

Updating Your Schedule

The calendar view helps when it’s time to build, adjust, or check a schedule. When you need to make mass updates while you’re in the calendar view, the card multi-select (command/control + click) option that’s available in the workflow view is now available in the calendar view. Multi-select cards that are unscheduled or already on the calendar to update start/finish dates, tags, priority, or assignee.

While you’re managing your schedule, you can quickly move cards to different parts of your workflow or to a different team’s board with the “Move to” menu option – without having to go back to the workflow view to do it.

Communicating with your Team

Using card, lane, or board subscriptions and @mentions (@username) to share and/or receive activity updates via email is an easy way to stay in touch with the rest of the team. Email notification subject lines are now threaded to help you keep track of the entire conversation with instant, built-in context – minimizing the need to hunt down previous communications.

Threaded email notifications consolidate updates for quick context.

Additionally, when your teammate @mentions you to get a copy of the latest file you can reply to the comment via email with the attachment. Or include an attachment when you create a new card via email. The emailed attachment(s) will be added directly to the card to share with the whole team or for future reference.

Next time you’re in LeanKit, give the newest features a try and let us know what you think.

  1. You’re right. There’s no “undo” feature in LeanKit. If, however, you’re curious about a specific case of unintentionally lost cards, please email support@leankit.com with your concerns. They’ll help you troubleshoot.
